Of all this year's Red Butte performers, Isaak is probably the most radio-friendly artist, and thanks in no small part to his generally excessively sexy videos, one of the few who will find regular rotation on music-video channels. Throughout, the singer and his crack band moved ably between bluesy rockers and laid-back acoustic ballads, keeping the crowd moving without wearing them out. Whether it was his ostentatious outfits or a joke about it being fitting that he "performed under a circus tent" (which followed another joke about his "big hands" being an attractive quality), he brought a talk-show host's mentality to the musical performance, which effectively made the concert more than just a concert.Įven with his comediic antics, however, the music still provided the finest moments for the sold-out crowd.
